Nonprofit CEO's can do a lot to positively support the role of the Volunteer Engagement Director and the resources and support systems that empower volunteers to do their best work. Gino Greco, CEO of the American Red Cross of Colorado/Wyoming, and Jackie Norris, Red Cross volunteer and former ED of Metro Volunteers, will speak from their past and current experience about how to make the most of the executive level impact on the volunteer-staff partnership.
Jackie Norris spent her career working in the nonprofit sector, first with the American Red Cross for almost 25 years, and then as Executive Director of Metro Volunteers, Denver’s Volunteer Center, for almost 14 years. She has served on and worked with numerous boards and commissions, and is a trainer and consultant in board development and volunteer engagement. She currently serves on the board of the Mile High Chapter of the Red Cross, as well as chairing their Volunteer Leadership Council. She also serves on the board of Global Dental Relief, a nonprofit that provides free dental care to children in six countries, through volunteers. In addition to these two boards, she is a volunteer with The Denver Hospice.
Jackie has trained locally, nationally, and internationally in volunteer engagement, including several times training Red Cross staff overseas. She has received numerous awards for volunteer management, nonprofit capacity building, and fundraising.
Gino Greco has served as CEO of the American Red Cross of Colorado & Wyoming since 2011 and proudly leads a team of 40 paid staff members and 2000 volunteers to help prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. In addition to the Red Cross, Gino has 20+ of non-profit executive experience with organizations such as CollegeInvest and the Wildlife Experience and civic board leadership experience with notable organizations such as Denver Kids Inc, Children’s Museum of Denver, Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs, Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and Colorado Emergency Preparedness Partnership. A proud southern Colorado native, he lives in Lakewood with his wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, a hamster and a ferret.
